3: POSITIONS WITHIN PAIRS

Another way of identifying dancers is by their position within some kind of pair. The most basic example of a pair is a couple, where two dancers are standing side to side. One dancer standing in front of another is also a kind of pair, called a "tandem".

These sorts of pairs occur in many different formations. For example, in the two-faced lines shown here, every boy is standing next to a girl, forming a couple. But at the same time, every boy is also standing in front of or behind a girl, forming a tandem.
