1.3: PARTNERS AND CORNERSIn a squared set, the dancers in a couple are each other's Partner. Each boy's partner is the girl to his right, and each girl's partner is the boy to her left.
Each dancer also has a Corner, the dancer in the other direction, in an adjacent couple. Each boy's corner is the girl to his left; each girl's corner is the boy to her right.
Unlike "Head", "Side", "Boy", and "Girl", the terms "Partner" and "Corner" refer to a relationship with another dancer. It is not that you are a partner or not a partner, but rather that you are the partner of a particular other dancer. Also, these terms take on other meanings when the dancers are not in a squared set. In particular, whenever dancers form a couple, they are considered each other's Partner. This is true even when a couple consists of two boys or two girls. If the caller wants to refer to the person who was your partner at the beginning of the tip, he will use a phrase like "Original Partner". Otherwise, if you are in any sort of couple, Partner means the other person in that couple.
