The call Spin Chain Thru starts in parallel waves. The ends do an arm turn 1/2 (trade) with the adjacent centers, becoming the new centers. They then cast off 3/4 in the center, then the very center two trade with each other, then all the centers again cast off 3/4, to form new waves with the other four dancers.

Note that the new waves are formed on the same spots where the original waves were located, and have the same handedness.

The first arm turn is always by the outside hand, regardless of whether that is right or left. In a Spin Chain Thru from left-handed waves, the first turn will be by the left, and the result will be new left-handed waves.
