DANCER IDENTIFICATION TUTORIAL
In each square of eight dancers, there are four Boys and four Girls. When the dancers form a square at the beginning of a tip, the Boys are the dancers on the left in each couple, and the Girls are the dancers on the right in each couple.

CALLER/MUSIC

The caller may use the term "Man" or "Gentleman" instead of "Boy". These are exactly equivalent in meaning (synonyms). Similarly, the caller may use the term "Woman" or "Lady" instead of "Girl".

Note that, depending on the customs and circumstances of a particular group, it may be that all of the "Boy" dancers are biologically male, and all of the "Girl" dancers are biologically female -- or not. For the purpose of any definitions or rules that depend on being a Boy or Girl, the dancers who square up on the left are the "Boys", and the dancers who square up on the right are the "Girls", no matter what they look like, and they retain that identity for the entire tip.
