As Couples is a concept. Concepts are not calls themselves -- they don't define a particular action. Instead, they are added to a call, spoken as a prefix, before the call, to modify the way that the call works.

As Couples means that the call is to be done with each couple doing the part that would normally be done by an individual dancer. That means that for a two-person call, there will be four real people involved. For a four-person call, there will be eight real people involved.

For example, in an As Couples Dosado, two facing couples would walk around each other without turning, until they were again facing each other.

In an As Couples Walk and Dodge, from parallel two-faced lines, the lead couple will slide over while the trailing couple walks forward.

Note that this idea already is present in Mainstream, with Couples Trade, Couples Hinge, and Couples Circulate defined separately as calls. (A "Couples Circulate" is the same as an "As Couples Box Circulate".) The As Couples concept just expands this idea so that it can be applied to any call where it makes sense.

Also note that there are some calls where couples already work as a unit to do the action, even though these calls may not have the word "couples" in their name. For example, in Bend the Line, the two couples that make up a four-person line turn toward each other, with each couple working as a unit. Applying the As Couples concept to this kind of call still doubles the number of people involved. Each real couple plays the part of one of the partners in the couples of the original call, so that in an As Couples Bend the Line four people end up turning as a unit.
