43.2: CORNER PROGRESSIONIn the typical singing call, each "figure" sequence will end with each girl moving one home position around the square, in promenade direction. Or another way of looking at it, each girl will temporarily become the partner of the boy who had been her corner. Since there are four such sequences in a singing call, and four home postions, at the end of the whole singing call each girl will be back with her original partner. It is common in singing calls for the sequences to include the call Swing, at some point when each dancer is facing, or at least somewhere near, the person with whom they will be promenading home. In the case of the four "figure" sequences, this will be the person who was their corner at the beginning of the sequence. The caller might say the words "swing your corner", use some other words like "swing this girl", or just say the single word "swing" -- in any case, after the swing that person is no longer your corner, he or she is now your partner, and you promenade home together -- to the boy's home spot -- ready to begin the next sequence.
