26.1: LADIES CHAIN
Ladies Chain starts from "normal" facing couples, with the boy on the left and the girl on the right. The girls "chain" across by extending their right hands to each other and pulling by. When they get to the other side, they do a Courtesy Turn with the boy on that side, and end facing back in.
But the boy doesn't wait for the girl to get all the way over to his side before moving. Instead, he anticipates the Courtesy Turn by stepping backward and extending his right arm, so that the girl can walk directly from the pull by into the Courtesy Turn without stopping.
Note that both Right and Left Thru and Ladies Chain end with a Courtesy Turn, and they end in the same kind of formation. The difference is that with Ladies Chain, only the girls go across to the other side. The boys remain on their own side.
