1.5: SPLIT COUNTER ROTATE FROM WAVES AND COLUMNS

The most common uses of Split Counter Rotate are from parallel waves and columns. In these two situations, each half of the overall formation is a box. Each box will do the counter rotate action independently, around its own center point.

The result of Split Counter Rotate from parallel waves is columns. The result of Split Counter Rotate from columns is parallel waves.

Note that because the two boxes are counter rotating independently, the centers of the waves must drop hands with each other before they start turning. But the dancers in each box can still hold hands.
